Terapedo1

An early Terapedo attacks a ship that lacks Teraport Area Denial.

A terapedo is a breacher missile equipped with a teraport drive, and possibly also a simple SI. In interdicted space, a terapedo behaves normally, but in free space it can teraport anywhere, even to another system or to inside an undefended target's hull. In fact, many of the Teraport Wars were fought simply by each side lobbing terapedoes at the other from the comfort of their home systems. Terapedoes also have the advantage that they can be launched from anywhere in the ship, eliminating the need for an exposed launch bay. Because terapedos are widely available and often have nuclear or conversion yields (ranging from kilotons to gigatons), it is essential that ships in combat maintain their Teraport Area Denial, as this is the only realistic defense against terapedo attacks.
